Tfc. Bruce Kenneth Smalls 9/27/1985 Trooper First Class Smalls was on duty in Jasper County when he was shot and killed during a traffic stop. Unbeknown to trooper Smalls, the suspect had killed the owner of the RV he was driving. The suspect was captured and sentenced to death. Trooper Smalls was a nine year veteran of the Patrol and was a native of Jasper County.
