Pfc. William Edward Peeples 6/8/1979 Patrolman First Class Peeples was on duty in Colleton County when he pursued a motorcyclist for speeding. After stopping, the suspect shot Patrolman First Class Peeples upon which he died the next day. The suspect was captured and charged with murder. Patrolman First Class Peeples was a five year veteran of the Patrol and was a native of Barnwell County.
