Cpl. Kenneth Jeffery Johnson 7/7/2002 Corporal Johnson was on duty in Berkeley County when he was shot and killed by a passenger of a pickup at a traffic checkpoint. Unbeknown to Corporal Johnson, the suspect was a wanted person and that the pickup had been reported stolen. The suspect was charged with murder and sentenced to death. Corporal Johnson was a twelve year veteran of the Patrol and was a native of Berkeley County.
