Ptl. Roy Odes Caffey 10/8/1972 Patrolman Caffey was on duty in Orangeburg County when he was shot and killed by unknown person(s) during a traffic stop. After national attention by the re-enactment by “Unsolved Mysteries” television show, an arrest was made on February 16, 1997. The woman arrested admitted to being present when Patrolman Caffey was killed by two other men who are both deceased. Patrolman Caffey was a native of Temple, Texas and was a twenty five year veteran of the Patrol.
