Clara Lee "Coot" Franks:

For those of you who did not know her, you missed out on a lot. She was the most wonderful person. She loved her family more than anything. She was a nurse and caregiver for all of us when we were sick. She was a daycare provider for her grandchildren and other family members. They all called her "Granny" and they all loved her so.

She was giving for those in need and she would literally give you the shirt off her back. She was a groundskeeper, an animal lover, a cook, a housekeeper and a friend. She was the best mother and friend her children could ever have. She was the most caring wife and loved her husband with all her heart. She was sweet and gentle and kind, a peacekeeper, and a telephone operator that kept in touch with all that she knew. She loved the Lord Jesus and it showed. We rejoice that she is in Heaven but we are so lonesome and hurt. The loss of her was tragic and no excuse. It is not fair we have to live without her because of someone's dare.

A poem from her daughter:

It was early in the morning when Clara Franks lost her life.

It was early in the morning; it was foggy but not dark,
She told her husband to be careful as he was going to play golf.
They kissed; spoke their love before bidding his farewell.
He left not knowing he would never see his companion and his Love again in this life.
It was early in the morning when she lost her life.

It was early in the morning; her daughters were on the phone,
Planning for a birthday dinner, their father was soon to have their mother, their best friend, was taken from their life
Never to be seen anymore in this life.

It was early in the morning; it was foggy but not dark,
she picked up donuts not knowing she would not be back,
to see the ones she loved and held so dear to her heart.

October 2 of the year 2004, it was foggy but not dark, a man was careless when he took her life. Dragging behind him, barely attached to his truck, a pontoon boat, not on the hitch, chains snapped, killed our mother and our Father's wife.

No open casket there would be, no closure for us, only sorrow and grief.
No matter what people say, time does not heal and the nightmare never goes away. It is hard to believe she'll never be here, because it was early in the morning she was taken from our life.

It was early in the morning, when Clara Franks departed to the Heavens with our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ, in the darkness of our loss we come to you; we cannot believe what has happened and yet we know it is true; sorrow and anxiety fill our life and it's hard to find rest. So we come to you, Lord Jesus, we bring to you the burden in our heart. It is too heavy for us; please take the weight and bear it with us, Lord, and give us your peace. AMEN
