On December 11, my son's life was taken by a driver who left the scene. As a mother, part of me also died that night. David was a loving, caring son who was willing to help in any way he could no matter what had to be done or who it was. He would go the extra mile any time. Whether it was for family, friends or those he worked with. There were times when people took advantage of him, but he kept on helping.
David loved life. He loved to eat, play video games and keep busy. When time permitted, he'd spend time bike riding with his handicapped sister, Deborah. He helped her read, cook and much more. He checked on me regularly and called each night when he got home from work at Food Lion in Tega Cay. You see, he rode 14 miles each way by bicycle to work.
David has four brothers, one of which is his twin and three sisters. It is really taking a toll on all of us physically, emotionally and mentally. Especially by Deborah.
It's so hard on all of us. What happened that night was stupid and senseless. We must put a stop to killings like this. Above all, drivers must serve time for their irresponsible actions.
